The Pain Is Killing Me - Wisdom Tooth

The lower part of my mouth are in pain especially the back end of tongue. Due to the weather, I thought it's just ulcer. But it's kind of weird since it was the back end of the mouth. During the night, I feel ill - weak and feel cold in cold weather. Asking my sister to put her hand on my forehead and neck. She said my body was slightly hot. So, I have a fever. Drank half a bottle of 100plus  and plain water. Fell asleep after some times. 

Since it was study week, decided to come home for few days. I can't eat well since the pain is not totally relieved yet.  When I brushed my teeth, still feel the pain. Look into the mirror, the wisdom teeth was there. No wonder I feel such pain.  But my gums was swelling too.  Search about it on Google. I read some blogs in which they were sharing about the pain too. Some of them even went into a minor surgery to remove it. SCARY

I'm not sure which is my case. But when I look into the mirror, the wisdom tooth was kind of fully developed. Not sure either the wisdom teeth need to be extracted or not. Should meet a dentist since they know better. 

p/s: Having a running nose and still feel the pain due to gum's swelling while I'm writing this. T_T

Tesco Delivery

Online shopping

Life is much more easier now. 

With few clicks, you can get whatever you want.

Tesco Malaysia just launched Tesco online shopping few months ago. It was the first time in Malaysia as the other big hypermarket do not provide such service. Not even now. Maybe after they saw Tesco got huge profit from this. LOL.

It's my second time to do this. Well, need to consider lots of thing as the situation is not quite okay. Told my mum about this, she said I should be more careful, make sure they are really really the delivery man.  

The good thing is they deliver things till at door since we pay at the door. So can order heavy stuff. Haha. Besides, no need to pay cash as they also take the safety of their deliver men into consideration - people do order many things so they do pay more. This time, I bought a box of mineral water - total of 12 bottles and also other stuffs. Well, got limited strength to carry it if I bought it from the store especially when you stay at apartment.

Reunion And Having Fun

 One of my ex-classmate was coming to Shah Alam for his relative's graduation day. So he texted and called most of us who are staying in Shah Alam and nearby. It has been 1 year since the last time we met. If I'm not mistaken, it was our graduation day last year. Since this was planned last minute, only some of us could make it. We had our dinner together at Noodle Station, SACC. I wish many more could come and join us. Well, it's on weekday so I can understand if they can't make it.

As usual, while waiting for our meals, we exchanged story a.k.a the update of us. What we've done, where we're working etc. I guess everyone was hungry as we didn't talk much while having the dinner.

We just spent time for the dinner. So everyone went home after that. So, photography is a must. Then, we can upload it on social network to let others know. And yes, they are jealous of us since we met and had dinner together. Perhaps can meet them again in some other times.

Moist Chocolate Cake

It's my first time making this moist chocolate cake. It's kind of crazy to make such cake at this hour (9.00 pm). I guess most people make a cake in the evening for hi-tea.

Made it together with my sister. Ensure that all the ingredients are in the house so that we spent less money. Hehe. Need to save much money now.

Put it in few small containers so that easy for us to eat it.

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance

STRESS

Previously, we got two NMR equipments in the faculty. But due to the man's ignorance, one of them is blown up in the fire incident. So only one left for us to run our samples. NMR is quite an important for the structural confirmation especially when it comes to the new compounds. 

Currently, the waiting list for NMR is damn long. Well, each of us not only has one sample but many of them. For 1D NMR, it takes less time than 2D NMR. However, waiting for my samples' 1D 13C NMR took me ages. Well, how long to run the NMR is depends on our sample. If you got much weight per sample, less time is needed. 

Maybe I should pay so that I can get my result faster than others.

Influence Of Running Man

Running man is a top Korea variety show. It's kind of addictive. The show is quite funny. For me, running man is a damn good show because it promotes the places as well as the food. You can google it to find out more about running man.

Watched last 2 week episode - Great Inheritance. Well, they need to cook. The green team - Gary, Jihyo, Haha, Kwang Soo, Yoo Ah In - decided on trinity combination - spicy soup of ribs, chicken, abalone. Ah In is seem to be a good cook as he became the leader for the cooking. Like that kind of guy.

Inspired by that, I made my own spicy chicken soup.

My cooking

I made the seasoning paste and kept it in fridge overnight since I need to be at the faculty earlier than usual.

Seasoning paste - Blended garlic, pepper paste, soy sauce, honey, ketchup, chili flakes

No exact measurement - follow your taste

This is what I do for the spicy chicken soup.

1. First, steamed 2 chicken wings. After the chicken is cooked, keep the chicken stock.

2. Take a cup of chicken stock into a pot together with the chicken parts. Saute the chicken with the paste evenly. Heat it for a while.

3. Then, put the vegetables (carrot, potato, celery) in - vegetables are cut into small edible size. Add 2 - 3 cups of chicken stock.

4. Season with a couple bit of salt and sugar - or until it fits your taste.

5. Heat off after let it boil for 10 - 15 minutes.

Writing An Academic Blog???

I am a subscriber of Next Scientist ebook. Well, I have to admit it is a good site for student like me. Recently, me got a new ebook written by the founder of the site, Julio entitled 17 simple strategies to survive your PhD. She is sharing her experience during pursuing the highest level of education.

Basically, the strategies are already known but yeah, some people do not apply them. Even we are PhD student, we are still enjoying my life - watching movies, hang out with friends, karaoke etc. One of the tips is write a blog. It would be nice to share the journey of getting a PhD degree - the thick and thin. Well, my sister had suggested it before. I'm not a good writer. 

Plus, I'm just share whatever I'm doing in my life here. 

But can take it into consideration. 

Keep Myself Updated

Doing research is quite insecure especially when it comes to the novelty part. We think we are the first one doing that study but hell yeah, we don't know what other people around the world do. So, researchers usually communicate through paper or journal with others since they would never meet each other. It makes me damn scared and nervous. 

This is the main reason I always check on science direct periodically. Just to make sure no journal regarding the study that I'm doing is published. It would drive me crazy if someone has published it. Well, it will be no longer a novelty and I would need to do something new. Me don't like brainstorming much. It gives me much headache.

Deep in my heart, I really hope no one doing same study with me.

Chemical From Merck

Need to buy some chemicals from the suppliers. Quite lazy to contact them so I order the chemical through the lab assistant, En. Mat. The postgraduate student usually order any chemical through him. Hence, no headache. 

Using the faculty's money would drag some times. It's because they consider the suppliers who sell good quality chemical at cheaper price. So my supervisor decide to use our research grant to buy all the chemical needed as it would be delivered faster.

Since I'm using NMR as the main characterization of my products later on, me want to own the NMR solvents by myself - with Prof's approval. Guess what, the higher number of deuderated carbon, the more expensive the price. Well, the process is quite complicated as it's involved expensive catalyst (what I learn from organometallic chemistry during degree level by Prof Dr Hada). So, it's not a big shock but still cause a heart attack as I need to use them. I'm lucky since my research got financial support - research grant. Otherwise, I don't think the faculty allow us to buy such chemicals.

Exhausting Myself

It's Monday. 

And it's public holiday. 

Since I've stayed at home during the weekends, so I decide to go out. Went to the Kenanga Wholesale City Fashion Mall as I want to buy some clothes. Went there with my younger sis. Me always feel sleepy in the train. It took about 45-50 minutes from Padang Jawa KTM Station to the KL Sentral. KL Sentral is like a main center for the trains. You can ride LRT, KTM as well as KLIA express from here.

After roughly 30 minutes walk, reached the mall. The KWC located at the end of the Kenanga Road. I shopped there once during the fasting month and also went to the Star Stage (level 15) for a concert before. So, this is my third time. Searching for new tribal shirt. Different shop got different price. One shop sell 1 shirt RM20. Hey, that is expensive. Went to another shop, they sell it at RM13 per shirt. So we bought 6 shirts.

Since both of us still eat nothing from the morning, we went to Ulam Cafe for a simple lunch. The food is quite delicious and affordable. We can get cheaper price for the same menu outside. Well, what did you expect. It's inside a mall and got air-con.

Someone was craving over sushi. So, we walked to the Berjaya Times Square as the mall is quite close and it's kind of a waste to ride monorail. Straight away went to the Sushi King at level 5. Same level with the theme park. Sushi King is located next to the Archery Store. Me prefer to have green tea while eat sushi. Since it's my sis's treat, I ate the purple plate sushi. Unagi and ebi fry. Well, it's such a loss since Sushi King has a promotion at this end of the month. Should go during that time. Sigh. Do I care since it's not my money to be spent on. Hahaha.

Broken Heart

Frankly speaking, I'm still hoping that we will be together again in future. Still holding on you. Actually, I'm wonder why you never show up and explain the whole thing. Why you just kept silence. I guess it's hard to choose either blood-related or stranger. Yes, I'm a stranger in your life. But all I ask is just a simple explanation. 

Money can buy anything. Is that so? I'm curious why did you tell me a different story. Even so, I still want you in my life. I guess maybe it's because you are the first person. The stupid me.

Please give me some strength to forget him

New Baby

Been searching for a new laptop. Before this, I was fall in love with Lenovo Yoga. But after consider its weight, prefer Asus Taichi more. However, it only provide the basic condition of a laptop. It would cost me about RM5000. Same price with an Apple laptop. Me prefer Apple product more. 

Based on my current financial condition, well, that's quite expensive. So just afford to buy laptop in range of RM2000-2500. Frankly speaking, it's my sis who buy the laptop, not me. Coincidentally, a PC fair was held at my hometown. So my sis went there. Me want a light laptop so that easy for me to carry it anywhere. Samsung laptop is quite thin and looks smart however my neighbour said better not to buy Samsung brand as it also give some of problems. Well, quite believe it since she used Samsung before.

So decide to buy Asus laptop. First time using window 8. Quite blur when open up the laptop.

My aunt was coming home from Kedah. Well, she was away during the Eid. She's been with us for 3 days. My uncle drove us to the beach. The kids enjoyed themselves riding the horse. As for me, I don't really remember when was the last time I went to the beach. LOL.

We, the Muslim, are celebrating the Eid after one month of fasting. It can help you to lose weight. But somehow, most of us gained weight since lots of food are sold during Ramadhan. Some of them are quite hard to find during other months. 

Well, frankly speaking, my family did not snap our family photo this year. Still being affected with the loss, I guess. Even I myself hardly to have the mood. But still enjoy the celebration to take my mom's heart. She did not cook Nasi Dagang this year. Nasi dagang is our state's signature dish. Well, maybe it's remind her of my late dad.

I Am Missing You

Read my sis's blog regarding the story of what happened on before and on the day (11th July). So, I decide to tell my part of story which may be damn shock more than hers since I was there at home. It will be a mix language of Malay and English.

11th July 2013

Sound of incoming text wakes me up. Hell yeah, I slept after subuh. 

Mr S: Salam. Bila nak datang ambil kereta?

So I tell my mum that Mr S texted me.

Umi: Gi ambil dengan ayah la. Umi mane tahu drive kereta auto.

So my mum gave my dad a call.

Umi: Ayah, Mr S mesej tanya pukul berapa nak gi ambil kereta.

Ayah: Umi gi la ambil dengan yaa.

Umi: Umi mane pernah drive kereta auto. Yaa pun lame dah x drive kereta. Kalau gi dengan ayah, kita gi kedai kereta naik myvi. Lepas tu, ayah drive kereta saga tu balik rumah.

Ayah: Kalau gitu, gi ambil petang la. Lepas ayah habis kerja. Pukul 3 lebih ke.

Then, my mum conveyed that to me. Me said I don't mind. It's up to him.

Ayah: Kalau ada org kat kaunter JUPEM ni, boleh la ayah balik kejap.

After a while, he called my mum back telling that he's coming home since someone is replacing his job. That was around 10.30 a.m if i'm not mistaken. So I take a bath and get ready. Both me and my mum are waiting for him at the living room. After 1 hour, my dad is still not home. My mum give him a call. No answer. Another phone call at 12.00 p.m. And yet, still no answer. 

Around 12.20 p.m, a car stopped right in front of my house. My dad's colleagues. It's quite weird to see them that time. They are really quite. 

Umi: Datang nak ambil alat ngukur ke?

En Fendi: Kak Mah buke pintu pagar ni dulu.

En Fendi, En Sabri, En Rosli and En Alias. Dorg nampak serba salah. Macam nak bgtahu something.

En Fendi: Kak Mah, ade benda nak bgtahu psl abg din ni.

Umi: Kak Mah pn tgh tunggu abg din balik la ni. Tp tak sampai lagi.

En Fendi: Harap Kak Mah sabar byk2. Abg din dh xde.

Umi: Abg din gi mana plak?

En Fendi: Abg Din kemalangan tadi mase on the way nak balik. Meninggal dunia. 

En Fendi: Nak ajak gi tgk jenazah kat hospital. Kak Mah ok x?

Umi: Kak Mah ok, kak mah redha je.

Umi: Kejut along bangun, gi hospital

Me are really speechless. Is it true? Rushing go into the room and waking my sister up. We are kind of blur when Mr Rosli said he will drive us to the hospital. Not far form my house, I got a call from my aunt asking me about the new car. Directly tell her about my dad. She said that she will be go straight away to the hospital. Along the way, my sister kept calling our relatives and close friends. It's a shock for everyone.  Out of sudden, En Rosli stopped the car at the road side. He told us that the accident happened in front of the bicycle shop. Don't know why, I said he must be kidding. Unfortunately, he said yes. My eyes got teary then. To tell the truth, I really hope that was not my dad along the way to the hospital. 

Reached the hospital. Most of my dad's colleagues were there. My neighbour was there since she is a nurse. The staff kept telling us to have patience while open up the black plastic covering the body. I only look at the half face of my dad. It's him. It's really really him. My tears fall down as heavy as the rainstorm. My neighbour hugged me right away. One of the female colleague take me away from that room and calm me down. Texted my friend Qik and Fit telling them about my dad. Qik called me straight away. 

Since my mum refused the post mortem, the hospital prepare for the funeral. My mum said the funeral is after Asar prayer. My other two sisters are on their way home. I bet they are crying damn hard as they cannot see my dad's face for the very last time. My mum asked me to take a photo to show to my sisters. Everything was settle roughly about 5.30 p.m. My younger sister Lin reached home at 6.00 p.m while Sarah was at 12.00 a.m. Along kept telling them to let everything go. 

It was supposed to be a happy day since I've got my new car but it's turned out to be the most saddest day in my life. I really want to see him wearing my PhD gown as well as he was wearing my sister's master gown. I guess he will never make it.

Rest in peace dad.

I will be a good daughter after this and try not to burden you there.

Date that all of my family members will remember. My beloved dad gone face our Maker. It's totally a shock for us. But as human, we accept the truth as we will also return to Him one day. Another sad thing is my brother's birthday is on 12th July. The memories of us will last forever.

Day Trip To Kota Bharu

I was home since I got some matters to settle down with. Follow my mum's trip to Kota Bharu. This state is next to my state. Travel roughly 3 hours to reach there. The first destination is Ranjau Panjang. The elder love to shop here. The stuffs are quite cheap. Maybe because it's close to Thailand. Bought myself a black cardigan and new blouse. But still cannot beat Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur. Haha.

Miss the junction cause us to go around in the housing area before get back to the main road. Went to the cinema first to buy the ticket. MBO cinema. It's my first hear that cinema. Well, used to go to TGV and GSC cinema.

Dinner + Movie

Decide to have our dinner at Street Cafe (again). Drove to Sunway Pyramid after perform our solat. Not so many people at the mall but the parking lots are quite full. What-so-ever. Thanks to K-drama, now we love to eat K-food. Enjoy the dinner while listening to the K-pop. Random playlist I think. As usual, the menu are bibimbap (mixed rice), kimbap (rolled rice), chicken sticks and korean tea. Bon apetit.

Some of my friend said that this movie is totally awesome. Run away to the cinema to buy the ticket. Sadly, the seat available are very close to the screen. So decide for not watching there (still not give up). Drove back to Shah Alam and went to AEON Bukit Raja. Straight away to the cinema and we got our ticket.

Still not watching monster university but get the tumbler first as it's limited edition. Will watch it later. World war Z is damn awesome. How the zombie virus spread throughout the world. Israel is damn bad, cross the communication of India just to know about the virus and keep it to themselves. What a selfish nation. Me pissed off. One thing that me love is the research lab of WHO. It's good to have such lab to do work. I wish I get one like that. It's quite worthy for Brad Pitt to produce such film.

Homemade Dukbokki

Dukbokki is a korean snack. It's also known as spicy rice cake. In Korea, it's a street food in which you can find it anywhere even at a small stall by the road.

These are the steps for cooking the spicy rice cake:

1. Boil water (1.5 cup) together with the anchovies (to get the anchovy stock)

2. Add the dukbokki sauce

3. Add in vegetables (carrot, cabbage, celery), crab stick and fish cake

4. Finally, add the rice cake.

(No additional seasoning since I used the ready-made sauce)

The sauce will be sticky. You may add some water.

5. Lastly, serve it with melted cheese and egg. 

p/s: Can have it in a plate but Korean normally eat it in frying pan.

Not sure either the deal is still on or not. Google it to confirm. And yes, the deal is on. Went to Setia City Mall to have our lunch at Sushi King. Since the bonanza is only valid for card holder, need to present the member card before enter. Luckily, I brought the card. I should keep all the cards in my purse. Such a waste since the three of us only spent about 20 minutes in the restaurant. Totally full after eating 5 plates of sushi.

At this shopping mall, Daiso is kind of must-enter shop. This shop sells all the stuff from Japan at such a cheap price. Mostly RM5 per item. Bought a white board so that I can write up all the things that I need to do. Then, I can meet the dateline.

Right before go to the parking lot, we go to Urban Fresh. Straight away go to the korean/japanese section. Got so many korean snack and can-drink there. Just bought pepero stick and banana milk. Give up on milkis drink as I drank it so many times before.

New Housemate

Sis Ana is moving out. It's because of her workplace. It would be damn time consuming if she stayed in Shah Alam. Lose my chat-gossip girls. Hukhuk. There will be another girl replace Sis Ana in this house. I forget her name. Sorry dear. If not mistaken, Sis Ana told us that she's 18 years old. Such a young age. Wait, stay outside (rent house) at such age. Well, don't want to comment. It's her life.

Welcome To Malaysia, Kim Jong Kook

Unable to go to the showcase due to the financial condition. So, decide to go to KLIA during his arrival in Malaysia. It's totally crazy. It is my first time being in KLIA. Reached KLIA quite late. It was 4.00 pm. Kim Jong Kook's flight will be arrive at 4.30 pm. Kind of surprise because I expected many people to be there at the international arrival hall. Well, it's easy for me to sneak to the front then. Haha. Everything went kind of weird as a man in white shirt standing there. Then, few people (the organiser's staff I thought) start to manage the crowd as well as the security. So, it's the time. When he came out from the hall, everybody went crazy. Not much photo taken as the guards kept pushing us away.

 Finally, I got my own bench. So, no more excuse to do the work. Need to be more pro active doing my study after this. Looks like my preliminary study give me the good result. I think I can proceed with other things.

Want to eat sushi today but sadly Sushi King is closed for maintenance. Kind of frustrated since I got some coupon to be spent. Confuse to decide our meal, either Korean or Japanese food. Well, I always eat at Street Cafe if I went to Sunway Pyramid. So decide to have our meal at Mr Teppanyaki.
